It's no secret that Tampa Bay area residents love their beer. But have you ever wondered just which neighborhoods drink the most beer?

Our partners at the Tampa Bay Business Journal took a closer look at just where in Tampa Bay the biggest beer drinkers live. By ZIP code, they looked at:

  • percentage of people who are beer drinkers
  • where they like to drink (home, restaurants or bars)
  • comparison of the beer drinking rate relative to the national average, and
  • average amount spent on beer annually

The results?

The number one ZIP code for beer-drinkers in the Tampa Bay area was 32609, which includes parts of Westchase and extends through Howard Avenue in Tampa. There, 50.9 percent of people said they'd consumed beer within the last six months.

Second place went to 33704, which includes the Old Northeast portion of St. Petersburg. They weren't far behind 32609 -- the precentage of people who said they'd consumed a beer in that ZIP code was 50.6 percent.
