The vintage shop on Central Avenue in downtown St. Pete breathlessly curates their inventory to meet the needs of those looking for just the right accessory.

"So you really can create a look that's authentic to the period," said ARTpool owner Marina Williams.

You can go for an old-school Elvira-inspired witch look, or maybe you’d rather go "contemporary chic."

What is the difference?

Well, Elvira has a long black wig and blood-red witch’s hat, with a black fitted dress, ragged bell sleeves and a plunging neckline. Skull patterned tights, a skull necklace and purple lipstick finish the look.

The "contemporary" witch, in comparison, has a black witch’s hat with yellow frills on the edges and a fuchsia sash at its base. A long brown and pink wig, a black cape with blood-red lining, and a t-shirt that blames life’s current problems on vampires all come together to project a colorful, more irreverant and indeniably more modern witch.

ARTpool presents tons of other options, of course, such as 1950’s zombie housewife, flapper, steampunk sailor, sugar skull bride -- head-to-toe, they've got the goods to complete the look.

While ARTpool is certainly there to help you get ready for your Halloween plans, they're also getting ready for a party of their own, one of their biggest of the year: the "Dia de los Muertos" celebration.

The event features music, art, a costume contest, and a fashion show filled with sugar skull models.

In its own way, the fashion show is lot like the pieces at Williams’ shop. If it’s not vintage, it’s something handmade.

All that creative spirit makes the celebration an artists’ haven.

"It's just a great meeting ground and a really safe place for people to be expressive, and try things and feel as though they have a very supportive community behind them," said Williams.

"Dia de los Muertos" is Saturday, October 15, from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m. For more information, visit artpoolrules.com.
