A person was fatally shot Friday night in what appears to be a road rage incident in Hillsborough County, deputies said.

  • Kenneth Michael Cuevas, 27, died at the hospital
  • Incident was second confrontation between two parties
  • Shooter cooperating with deputies

Deputies said the incident was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Brandon. Two vehicles were stopped at the traffic light at Bloomingdale Avenue and South Kings Avenue when Kenneth Michael Cuevas, 27, exited his car and walked back to the second vehicle.

Deputies said words were exchanged and then shots were fired. Cuevas, who was shot at least once, was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

The shooter pulled his car off the roadway and waited for law enforcement to arrive at the scene. The shooter is cooperating, deputies said.

The altercation reportedly came just minutes after an earlier confrontation between Cuevas and the shooter.
