According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the fire broke out Thursday afternoon in the 5800 block of Barry Road. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office also responded.

Firefighters were trying to put out the fire from inside the warehouse but eventually pulled out due to a series of small explosions. Investigators said the warehouse held cleaning products and rental equipment.

However, crews also found several animals in the warehouse, including cats, a monkey and birds. Some of the animals did not escape the fire.

There were no injuries and crews cleared the scene early Friday morning. The building is a total loss, officials said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and an investigation is ongoing.

On Thursday afternoon, smoke from the fire caused a few shutdowns on the adjacent Veteran's Expressway.
