Protesters symbolically showed their frustration for Donald Trump Sunday at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg with a long paper train.

It's not the election of Donald Trump, but the selection of Donald Trump's cabinet and staff that has these people demonstrating.

Namely, Trump's appointment of former Breitbart news head Steve Bannon as a chief advisor. Breibart has been criticized for racial charged commentary from the far right.

“We don't want people in office who sort of ran careers on hatred, anti-semitism, racism, misogyny, homophobia,” said protester Victoria Godfrey.

Godfrey was among those making her voice heard at the protest. They formed a paper chain of 5,818 links -- one for each hate crime incident in the last year.

Tampa resident Kendra Archer came over with her four children not just to protest, but also to teach.

“Well they're understanding that love is more powerful than hate,” Archer said. “They're understanding that being part of a community is important. And that standing up for values are important.”

Kendra says the polarizing politics have already seeped into her 7-year-old daughter's classroom and she wants to educate her on how to handle it.

“She’s been at school. Some of her friends, their families are Trump supporters and I'm teaching them to be compassionate against those who are different than them, but standing up for what their beliefs are,” Archer said.
