Safety Harbor just got a lot more artsy. The Safety Harbor Art and Music Center, located on the 700 block of 2nd Street North, is now open.

  • Safety Harbor recently opened their new art and music center
  • The facility took four years to build
  • Leaders took inspiration and ideas from the community

A couple of Bay area artists, Todd Ramquist and Kiaralinda came up with the mirrored concept. With the help of the community, they were able to get the $200,000 facility built through donations and a grant from Pepsi.

Kiaralinda said it's a place for the entire community to enjoy.

"Everyone's reflected in the building," said Kiaralinda, who is now on the board of the center. "We were reflected in it making it, they're reflected in it when they come visit it."

The Safety Harbor Art and Music Center took four years to build. Nearly 300 volunteers helped design the colorful building.

"It’s all worth it," said board member Todd Ramquist. "The minute we opened, it was rewarding."

The place is already hosting art classes for children during the week and concerts at night.

Board members are planning a holiday event this month for the entire community.
