The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said an employee at the Banana Factory on 14th Street in Bradenton was carjacked around 11:40 a.m. Friday.

Tamara Petroff-Hall told authorities that when she arrived to work, the suspect - Nicholas Holloway - approached her and asked for a ride.

Petroff-Hall said Holloway then demanded that she give him her vehicle and said he was armed with a gun.

After Holloway drove off, authorities said Petroff-Hall went inside the business and told some patrons what had happened.

Charles Miller was one of the patrons inside the business. He decided to go after the suspect on his own, authorities said.

Miller was on the phone with law enforcement as he pursued Holloway. In an effort to avoid apprehension, Holloway struck several vehicles and ended up exiting the vehicle in front of a home on Bay Drive in Bradenton, authorities said.

Miller was able to detain Holloway until deputies arrived and took him into custody.

Holloway was arrested on charges of carjacking.
