Amazon officials opened their doors Tuesday for a glimpse inside the company's fulfillment center in Ruskin.

Since the center opened, 2,500 people have been hired to work there, and they're still looking for more employees.

"I love my job at Amazon," said employee Laura Pelletier. "There's a lot of opportunity and room for growth, so I'm trying to go as high as I can."

Amazon will soon build a classroom at the Ruskin facility and provide schooling for employees who want to move up in their jobs or simply further their education.

"I personally have not finished my schooling so I'm going to definitely be taking part in that program to finish my bachelor's degree," Pelletier said.

The employees work alongside hundreds of robots to get packages ready to ship.

"The technology actually understands what is needed from a customer standpoint and then tells the associate what to take out," said Chris Monnot, center's general manager.

The 320-pound robotic units can lift as much as 750 pounds.

Amazon officials say the machines make processing faster and helps enable faster shipping times to customers.

The fulfillment center delivers packages to customers all over the world.
