Firefighters fought a large house fire in New Port Richey Saturday, fire department officials report.

Units from the New Port Richey Fire Department battled the flames at a home located on Burns Point Circle. Officials say two oof the home owners were inside when the fire started.

The homeowners told investigators that they heard a loud boom around 4 p.m., after which the house was on fire. They also said a storm was passing through the area at the time they heard the sound.

The owners were able to leave the home safely. No one was injured during the effort to put out the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
