Fire crews continue battling a wildfire at Egmont Key.

  • Residents say fire originated from lightning strike
  • Florida DEP says blaze not under control

The fire had burned about 15 acres shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection got the call about 10:30 a.m. from residents who live on the island.

Residents say it's from a lightning strike from an overnight storm.

Florida DEP said the fire is not under control.

No injuries were reported.
