Here's what you need to know about Tampa Bay area weather through early Saturday:

  • Storms early over coastal areas, then move inland
  • Overnight lows in mid to upper 70s, near 80 along coast

It will be partly cloudy through Saturday morning. Low temperatures will linger in the mid to upper 70s.

This weekend, a southwest-to-west wind is expected as the high pressure moves to the south. The storms will begin earlier in the day over the coast and move eastward to the inland areas.

The coverage of the showers and storms drops to around 30 percent on Saturday and 20 percent on Sunday.

High temperatures will be average with upper 80s along the coast and lower 90s inland. Overnight lows will remain in the mid to upper 70s except around 80 degrees near the coast.

Early next week, a cold front will push into the southeastern U.S., remaining well north of Tampa Bay. The front will help to suppress the surface ridging to our south. This will keep a westerly flow across the area.

Below normal rain chances continue into Monday. Starting Tuesday, winds will become northeast. This will put us back to our pattern of afternoon storms into the weekend. The rain chances increase to 40 percent midweek.
