An iconic Tampa restaurant brand returns to the area on Tuesday — 11 years after it closed its doors.

  • Goody Goody Burgers opened in 1925, closed in 2005
  • Restaurateur Richard Gonzmart purchased brand rights in 2014
  • Gonzmart promises new location will bring back classic dishes, experience

For generations of Tampa residents, Goody Goody Burgers was an institution in Tampa. That institution, gone for more than a decade, will make its grand return Tuesday, Aug. 23, in Hyde Park.

According to our partners at the Tampa Bay Business Journal, restaurateur Richard Gonzmart, president of the Columbia Restaurant Group, purchased the brand rights to Goody Goody Burgers in 2014. His group has since focused on bringing the brand back in the most authentic way possible.

The restaurant's menu will include Goody Goody's secret-sauce-topped burgers, signature French fries and butterscotch pie. The restaurant will also feature an all-day breakfast menu.

On the restaurant's website, Gonzmart pledged the new Goody Goody Burgers will not use frozen French fries or artificial ingredients.
