Here's what you need to know about Tampa Bay area weather for Saturday night into Sunday:

  • Showers and thunderstorms this afternoon
  • Highs will be in the low 90s

Skies will become mostly clear overnight. Lows will be near normal.

On Sunday, a weakening surface cool front moves south into the Southeast states. This will push the high pressure center to South Florida. It will also strengthen the westerly flow currently over the region.

There will be a few showers and storms over Gulf waters late tonight that will move onshore and affect coastal areas into the morning hours. Convection will then move inland and scatter over the interior and eastern half of Florida during the afternoon and evening.

With dry air overhead during that period, rain chances will only be around 20 percent.

Monday's pattern looks very similar. The rain chance for the day will remain at 20 percent.

Tropical Storm Fiona, meanwhile, is in the central Atlantic Ocean, moving toward the WNW. Some weakening is expected this weekend due to increasing shear and dry air. It’s not near any land.
