When help arrived the residents were waiting outside, directing firefighters to where they believed the flames were coming from. The family’s cat was quickly pulled out of the house, though reportedly not in good shape.

Using donated pet-sized oxygen masks from the Suncoast Animal League, firefighters were able to save the cat's life.

Officials say the occupants are staying with family.
