This week, in a public meeting at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Largo, the city presented its plan for major upgrades to Trotter Road from 8th Avenue Southwest to Hilldale Avenue.

The upgrades are part of the city's 'Community Streets Plan' and includes adding continuous bike lanes, sidewalks, new landscaping, curbs and storm water drainage improvements.

Largo Resident Carl Gross has been concerned about the street's condition for quite a while.

"It's about time the city got the idea that this road is a disaster," said Gross. "It doesn't drain properly.  It doesn't look good.  I mean, people coming out of our church -- I go to St Patrick's -- people coming into our church don't get a very good impression of the church because the street is in disrepair."

Largo Mayor Woody Brown facilitated the public meeting and welcomed additional input.

"We're trying to get as much public input as we can," Brown said. "It's certainly going to change Trotter Road, I think for the better and if there's some aspects some people aren't happy with then we're going to address those and move forward."

The city has posted the complete plan and will update its progress along the way on its website.
