Here's what you need to know about Tampa Bay area weather for the weekend:

Clouds will decrease overnight. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Sunday will be partly sunny and breezy, with a 50 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Showers and storms will move fast toward the west again. Storm coverage around the Bay area will be around 50 percent.

Highs will be in the low 90s tomorrow afternoon. The sea breeze will continue to remain just west of the coast due to the stronger east wind.

Winds will stay east-to-northeast through Monday.  Storm chances will stay consistent from the afternoon through the evening.

We continue to watch a weak area of low pressure from eastern Cuba northward to the central Bahamas. It’s producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, and upper-level winds are expected to remain unfavorable for significant development into Sunday while it moves toward the west-northwest.

However, if the system can survive and move through the Straits of Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico, conditions could become more favorable for development by the work week.

Regardless of intensity, the general track of this system during the next several days would favor an increase in rain chances across much of central Florida and especially southern Florida starting Sunday. Given the deep tropical moisture associated with the system, some of the rain will be heavy.

We will keep a very close eye on this feature if it does eventually move into the Gulf of Mexico. If it is in the Gulf, it could affect our area Monday through even Friday.
