The visitation and funeral for Monsignor Laurence Higgins will be held this week and will be open to the public.

Higgins, a local force in Tampa's religious circles - as well as government and business – died August 24 at the age of 87. Higgins served as pastor at Tampa's St. Lawrence Catholic Church for 49 years.
Visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Monday and Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. both days, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Office of the Dead: Evening Prayer at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, August 31 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with graveside services to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, and a reception thereafter at St. Lawrence's Higgins Hall.
In lieu of flowers, mourners are asked to contribute to one of the organizations important to Higgins, including St. Peter Claver School, Cristo Rey Tampa High School, Abe Brown Ministries, or the Gold Shield Foundation.
