For many years Christmas was celebrated all year long at a well-known spot in Brooksville. Rogers' Christmas House Village was a Hernando County icon, but it shut down years ago.

Well, it's back.

  • Rogers' Christmas House closed in 2010
  • In 2014, a local couple purchased the property
  • They recently restored the Brooksville icon to its former glory

The decorations are up and the holiday spirit is alive and well. Yeah, it's summertime, but Christmas is back in Brooksville.

Rogers' Christmas House Village at Saxon Manor reopened a little while back under new ownership, and now things are in full swing leading up to the holidays. Over the years this famous spot has created many memories for people near and far, including Donna Doyle.

“You can go to different states and mention this place and they'll say, 'Oh, I’ve been there,'" Doyle said.

The original Christmas house closed back in 2010 and sat empty until a local couple rescued it in 2014. They vowed to bring the tradition back and they did.

“We have had people come all the way from Sarasota, Miami, to see the Christmas house because they know what it was before and they want to see it again,” said Kristen Tyo, who works at the store.

Local business owners are glad to have the Christmas House back again too. It's a big draw for the area.

“Yes, big time,” said Doyle. “It's great. I love it."

A big piece of Hernando County that's alive and well again.
