Do you want to laugh with Tracy Morgan, be blown away by some Beethoven or get lost in an illusion?

The Bay area has big fun on the way.

Straz Center

Straz Center in September brings to audiences "The Illusionists" - a show featuring seven different reality benders - from September 23 - 25.

Straz then follows up illusion with a little election humor from a famous Chicago improv troupe. "Unelectable You: The Second City's Completely Unbiased Political Revue" runs at Straz on September 25.

Jobsite Theater

Meanwhile, Straz Center’s resident theatre company, Jobsite, kicks off their new season on September 7 with "The Underpants," Steve Martin's adaptation of the German farce “Die Hose.” The play runs through October.

Mahaffey Theater

Post-election funnies continue at Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg with comedian Tracy Morgan on November 11. After that, if you're feeling nostalgic for synth-pop, check out the Pet Shop Boys on November 15.

December then brings Lauren Hill to the stage to help you increase your cool quotient.

American Stage

American Stage In St. Petersburg kicks off its new season September 7 with “Good People.”  Set in the “Southie” neighborhood of Boston, it depicts nothing less than the search for the American Dream.

In October, the curtain rises on a modern adaptation of French playwright Moliere's madcap stage comedy "Tartuffe", about a con-man who takes over the life of a wealthy businessman.

Florida Orchestra

The Florida Orchestra's new season starts on September 30. Conductor Michael Francis kicks it off with Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and "An Ode to Joy!", featuring the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay.

Venues for these performances include Straz Center, Mahaffey, and Ruth Eckerd Hall -- visit the orchestra's website for dates, times, and tickets.

Tampa Theatre

For those craving a classic movie experience, "The Wizard of Oz" comes to the Tampa Theatre on September 3 and 4 as the theater extends it's "Summer Movie Classics" series. The series then continues for two more Sundays, with "Gone with the Wind" on September 11 and "Casablanca" on September 18.

Plus, those craving a little bit of the late Gene Wilder’s magic, see "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory" for FREE on September 10.

Van Wezel

Finally, looking ahead to next year, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota is seeing stars in 2017.

Their new season includes Lily Tomlin coming February 8. From Ernestine to Frankie Bergstein, Tomlin is only an Oscar away from the almighty entertainment title EGOT -- that’s an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony title.

Steve Martin and Martin Short take the stage there just a couple of nights later, on February 10.

Ruth Eckerd Hall

If Sarasota is a bit far to drive for two-thirds of the "Three Amigos," they'll be at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on February 11th. The venue's slate in 2017 also includes rock legends Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan, both of whom take the stage on separate dates in November.
