  • Hands Across the Bay Dancing with the Stars event is October 1st

The event raises money for different organizations all across the Bay area like Kimberly Home in Clearwater.

Kimberly Home is a pregnancy resource center that provides expectant mothers with testing, ultrasounds and educational classes along with childcare, housing, toys, clothing, and furniture after birth.

Melanie Davis said she turned to Kimberly Home after hitting rock bottom.

"I was in a very unhealthy environment and relationship and I decided to make that change," Davis said.

Davis said the people and the programs changed her life.

"It's like nothing else, this is home I feel the safest I have in many years," Davis said.

Executive Director Kate Kelly said Kimberly Home helps nearly 1,500 women and children every year. The organization gets help from different grants but runs solely on donations and community support from organizations like Hands Across the Bay.

"Some of our moms have been in abusive situations some have been in situations where they can't support themselves anymore," Kelly said.

The Hands Across the Bay Dancing with the Stars event is October 1st.
