  • Citrus County disaster relief meetings set
  • SWFWMD (Swiftmud) activates Tampa bypass canal system

Damage assessment teams say of the 535 structures surveyed after the storm passed, two are destroyed.

Eighteen homes sustained major damage and another 179 had minor damage.

Meanwhile, in Citrus County, two disaster relief meetings have been scheduled.

The meetings will be held at the Lecanto Government Complex today from 1 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Representatives from emergency management, county departments and non-profit aid organizations the Salvation Army and the Red Cross will be on hand to assist and answer questions.

Also, area boaters are being notified that the Southwest Florida Water Management District has activated the Tampa Bypass Canal System.

The action was taken due to the heavy rain associated with Hurricane Hermine.

This means that for the time being, the Hillsborough River is closed to boaters.

Barriers along the river were put in place on Monday.

Crews will now re-direct the flow of the river away from Temple Terrace and Tampa to help alleviate any current flooding concerns still remaining along the river.
