Students at Lecanto Primary School had a special guest speaker on Wednesday -- Meteorologist Josh Linker.

  • Meteorologist Josh Linker chatted with students following Citrus County's brush with Hurricane Hermine
  • The video call was part of the expert's Weather Wednesdays
  • Those interested in arranging their own video call are encouraged to contact the station
  • Project Weather

Linker, a Bay News 9 weather expert, video chatted with Mrs. Zoucha and Ms. Hurley's 2nd grade classes as part of the station's Weather Wednesday.

"The 2nd graders were great, very smart kids with lots of interest in weather," said Linker. "I found it interesting that one kid asked about Hurricane Gloria because he had read about it. Hurricane Gloria in 1985 was a storm that hit Long Island where I grew up and really sealed my interest in weather. It was nostalgic for me to talk about it."

Weather Wednesdays gives students a chance to ask any weather question they can dream up.

Sessions are on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. for 30 minutes. Students must be in the first grade or older.  For children younger than first grade, we recommend the Bay News 9 Project Weather activity books.
