Automobile manufactures have added nearly a million more vehicles to their Takata air bag recall in North America.

  • Takata airbag recall includes several vehicle makes, models and years
  • 816,000 new recalls in the North America alone
  • Faulty airbags are responsible for 16 deaths worldwide

The airbags in several vehicle makes, models and years are being impacted, including:

Mustangs released between 2005-2009, as well as the 2012 Mustang, the 2006-2009 and 2012 Ford Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr and Lincoln MKZ, the 2007-2009 Ford Ranger, Edge and Lincoln MKX, the 2006-2009 Mercury Milan and the 2005 and 2006 Ford GT.

In all cases, front passenger air bag inflators have the potential to explode with too much force and spew metal shrapnel.

According to reports, nearly 200 people have been injured and 16 have been killed worldwide from the defect.

The recall follows a long string of Takata recalls, encompassing 5.7 million vehicles involving 17 automakers in the U.S.
