A man was shot early Sunday morning in Inverness at a gas station, authorities say.

  • Deputies say a man approached a husband and wife at gas station
  • A struggle ensued between the men

Deputies in Citrus County say a married couple was at a gas station, located at 1224 N. US Highway 41, when the husband was approached by another man outside of the store.

An altercation ensued, which deputies say lead the husband to shoot the other man.

The man, though wounded, fled. He was later involved in a crash on Highway 44, but did not suffer any additional injuries.

After authorities caught up with him, the man was then transported to a local hospital.

Deputies say the couple is cooperating with their investigation, and that the man who was shot appears to be the aggressor.
