Deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office responded just after noon to the U.S. Postal Service building at 9355 113th Street North in Seminole.

Investigators said Brandon Barody, 21, was traveling north on 113th Street North on his motorcycle when a van turned left into his path. Barody was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact with the van's passenger side.

After impact, the van accelerated and crashed into a privacy fence and a traveler trailer in the backyard of a home. It then kept going, and crashed into the south side of a second home, located at 11280 Freedom Court.

Paramedics who responded to the crash pronounced Barody dead at the scene. The driver of the van, Laura Scanlon, 60, needed to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported to Bayfront Medical for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The house the van crashed into was not occupied at the time of the incident.

113th Street North was closed to vehicle traffic northbound during the investigation.
