City leaders say a pipe broke Tuesday afternoon after excavators struck a gas line.

Crews are still working to repairing the damage. The temporary road closures may have caused some delays for commuters. School bus schedules were also likely impacted.

In the original press release, city officials said:

As crews repair the gas line, Bruce B. Downs Boulevard will be closed between Amberly Drive and Tampa Palms Boulevard for up to two hours. There is no threat to schools in the area, however this repair will impact and delay buses as they transport children at the end of the school day. Drivers are also asked to find alternate routes until the repair is completed.
