Before the teams hit the gridiron, they met with fans and faced the microphones for their last interviews before Monday’s game.

Thousands of fans turned out Saturday to see their favorite teams for Media Day.

"It's wild, it's kind of like going to the Super Bowl for us," Alabama fan and Tampa resident Popy Mazza said.

Fans got a close view of the teams they watch year after year. They got to take pictures with the teams and listen in closely to their interviews. For many, media day was a family affair.

"He's a die hard Alabama fan and when I mean die hard I mean its live breathe, drink Alabama football," Popy Mazza said about her husband, Jason.

It was a surreal moment for Alabama graduate Jason Mazza.

"This is a bucket list thing for me to be able to go to the National Championship and see them in our own backyard since we live here and especially to have my boys here with me," Jason Mazza said.

Thousands made the trips from Alabama and South Carolina to see their hometown teams. Fans said watching the games have become tradition.

"I learned from my big brother. He's a really, really big Clemson fan," Adeline Summers said.

"It's an amazing experience to see the players, it's awesome," Jefferson Summers said. "The coach is the real deal and he has created an environment, an atmosphere that everyone wants to be there, you want your children to play there, you want to cheer them on, see them be successful," Summers added.

It could be a nail biter to see if Alabama will be repeat champions or if Clemson will take the trophy back. No matter which team wins, fans said they couldn’t be more proud of their success.
