  • Citrus Sheriff's Office SWAT raid at home in Hernando
  • Deputies arrested four people
  • Authorities: People with violent criminal histories frequented the house

A SWAT Team responded to 4638 N. Tumbleweed Trail in Hernando on a drug search warrant.

According to officials, neighbors have told authorities the residence has been the hub of illegal activity and identified as a problem in the neighborhood.

Officials said a number of individuals with violent criminal histories frequented the house.

Authorities said when SWAT approached the front door of the home, a person inside, Manuel Reyes, attempted to barricade himself inside the residence by shutting and locking the door.

Officials said there was a small amount of drugs found but a large amount of drug paraphernalia found in the home which substantiated the claims the residence was used as a drug house.

Deputies said the home was in deplorable condition.

The home's primary resident, Jennifer Purdin, 45, was arrested on nuisance violations.

Daniel Weeks, 28, and Vonda Leighty, 22, was arrested on possession of drug paraphernalia charges and Reyes, 22, was arrested and charged with interference with a search warrant

The Community Crimes Unit also responded to the residence to follow up with theft reports at the home and to investigate possible stolen property located at the home.

"As promised, we're hitting it hard when it comes to drugs," said Sheriff Mike Prendergast. "Our Tactical Impact Unit has vast amounts of experience in this area and they will find you if you're using or dealing."
