A Pasco deputy rescued a driver from a burning car with the help of two good Samaritans early Saturday morning, according to Pasco Sheriff's officials.

  • Deputy arrived on scene and found driver trapped
  • Driver suffered minor injuries

Officials said 911 dispatchers received a call referencing a vehicle on State Road 52 near Kent Grove Drive at around 4:19 a.m. As first responders traveled to the scene, they learned that someone was trapped in the car.

Deputy Anthony Petersen reportedly arrived on scene and found the front of the crashed vehicle on fire. With the help of two good Samaritans, Crystian Martinez and Randy Breighner, Petersen pulled the driver from the car.

Fire Rescue personnel said the driver only suffered minor injuries thanks to the efforts of his rescuers.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
