Artists paid tribute to the victims of the Pulse nightclub attack on Thursday night.

A memorial mural was painted on huge white sheets outside the nightclub. Strike Oil founder Natalia Getty and street artist Mr. Brainwash collaborated on the project.

“This was a hateful thing that happened and it was disgusting and it was horrific," Getty said. "But every single one of you, by showing up tonight, you’re fighting it and you're combating it and you're fighting with love."

The murals depicted six rainbow hearts and messages like “love is the answer.”

For the first time since the June attack, the public was allowed inside the fenced-in area that protects Pulse from intruders.

Everyone was encourage to add more messages to the murals.

“The fact that we are here and creating something, I think is very healing and very beautiful,” said Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan.

It was a tough decision for Pulse’s owner to open the gate to everyone.

“I see the hurt in your eyes and in your hearts, and I hope that coming here, being together, hugging each other, laughing, you start to heal a little bit more every day,” said Pulse owner Barbara Poma.

The artists chose Thursday because it was Spirit Day, a day to support LGBTQ children who are bullied.

The murals were moved by the Pulse Foundation and will be made into prints that will be available for purchase online.

All proceeds from the event will benefit GLAAD and the Pulse Foundation to help restore the club.
