Boxes full of Florida Hospital patient information have gone missing, the hospital said Friday.

  • Florida Hospital patient information 'misplaced'
  • Boxes of info were being transferred from vendor to vendor
  • 1 year of identity protection being offered

The boxes were being transferred from one storage vendor called Access to another, Iron Mountain, when they were "inadvertently misplaced" sometime around Aug. 17, the hospital said in a news release.

The hospital thinks the boxes are still in one of its secure facilities, but at this point, the information has not been found. Government and regulatory organizations have been notified.

"While we have no evidence that patient information has been misused, we are taking all steps necessary to help guard against the potential damage this may cause, including providing one year of identity theft protection at no cost for impacted patients," Florida Hospital said.

Patients are being contacted about the missing information, and a dedicated phone number has been set up for questions: 877-309-9843.
