Disney Springs is rolling out a brand new holiday show featuring drones.

"Starbright Holidays - an Intel Collaboration" is touted as a first-of-its-kind light show featuring 300 Intel Shooting Star show drones.

  • Drones over Disney Springs light up in more than 4 billion color combinations
  • Drone show coming to Disney Springs starts Sunday, Nov. 20
  • Christmas tree trail, other activities available at Disney Springs

"[I got] a little knotted up in my throat watching it," said Brian Mahan, Orlando, after catching the sneak peek in the sky. "It was pretty amazing. Unexpected."

"I think the music with it makes it even more enjoyable - it gets you wrapped up in it a little more," said Judy Cook of Pennsylvania, gesturing to a lump in the throat.

The drones have built-in LED lights that can create more than 4 billion color combinations.

“We are excited to work with Walt Disney Imagineering to bring a fresh and innovative approach to its world-renowned light shows,” Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s New Technology Group Josh Walden, said in a statement. “Together, we worked to tackle the new frontier of entertainment, picturing the sky as our canvas, and flying lights as ink.”

"What a surprise," Brandon Saldivar of Orlando said. "Talk about being innovative."

"I compared it to regular fireworks and this is a lot neater in the sense that they stay up there," said Judy's husband, Joe.

Get this - the drones are controlled by a single pilot. But Disney Springs Marketing Manager Darcy Clark says they do have a back-up. She's also surprised by the weight of each drone.

"They're extremely light," Clark said. "They actually weigh less than a volleyball."

So we had to ask - where do they fly off to when the show's over?

"Disney magic!" Clark laughed. "It's the magic of Disney, Allison!"

The "Starbright Holidays" will debut Sunday for nightly performances at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The show will run through Jan. 8.

Meanwhile, another new attraction at Disney Springs for the holiday season is its Christmas Tree Trail.

"It's a full experience in the Marketplace," said Nico Agrusa, Disney Springs' Marketing Coordinator. "Each tree is decorated specifically for some of our Disney stories."

From Cinderella and Beauty & the Beast to Mickey and Minnie at the head of the trail. Whether it's baby's first Christmas or your first as a couple, the trail features 15 trees to serve as your holiday photo backdrop.

Also taking place right now, special seasonal entertainment, meet and greets with Santa, and festive decor throughout all four neighborhoods – Town Center, The Landing, West Side and Marketplace.
