Universal Orlando has revealed details about one of the attractions set to open at its new waterpark, Volcano Bay.

  • Tickets for Volcano Bay to go on sale Nov. 15
  • Krakatau Aqua Coaster to take riders through the volcano
  • New technology will help eliminate lines at the park

Krakatau Aqua Coaster, located inside a massive volcano, will be a "first-of-its-kind" aqua coaster in Florida, according to the park's official blog.

Specially designed canoes will take riders — downward and upward — through the volcano's dark passageways. Riders will also be launched through sparkling waterfalls.

According to Universal, the aqua coaster will use line induction motor technology, which is also used in other attractions, like Revenge of the Mummy.

Tickets for the park will go on sale Nov. 15.

Universal also revealed that Volcano Bay will use new technology designed to eliminate long lines.

Guests will be given a TapuTapu wearable (no extra charge). The device allows guests to virtually wait in line while they enjoy other areas of the park. When it's time to ride, an alert will be sent to the device, letting guests know it's time to head to the attraction.

It's part of the water park's tap-to-play experiences designed by Universal's creative team.

TapuTapu can be used to activate special effects throughout the park, control water cannons and find hidden images inside the volcano. Universal plans to release more information about TapuTapu in the future.
