Universal Orlando released several new images Monday of the star of its new attraction, Skull Island: Reign of Kong.

  • Skull Island: Reign of Kong set to open this summer

Fine details of the animated King Kong's face, such as his eyes, forehead wrinkles and perhaps blood on his left temple can be seen in the pictures.

Guests on the 3D ride will be taken by "expedition vehicles" through the jungles and caves of Skull Island, where they will encounter deadly predators, prehistoric creatures, a lost shrine and ancient temple. Thunderous roars and blasts of air will make guests feel as though they're immersed in the action.

And, of course, guests will encounter King Kong himself, feeling his breath on their skin and hearing his thunderous roar.

Universal says Kong will be one of the longest ride experiences it has created. The attraction, between Jurassic Park and Toon Lagoon at Universal's Islands of Adventure, opens this summer.

A movie, "Kong: Skull Island," is set for release by Universal Pictures in 2017.
