An Atlas V rocket with a U.S. Navy communications satellite was rolled to a launch pad Thursday at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station ahead of a scheduled Friday launch.

The MUOS-5 satellite, built by Lockheed Martin, is one of a network of satellites designed to improve internet, voice and data services to U.S. military forces, according to United Launch Alliance.

The Atlas V launch window is from 10:30 a.m. to 11:14 a.m. There's an 80 percent chance of favorable weather, according to Patrick Air Force Base officials. Join News 13 for a live chat on the launch, starting at 10 a.m.

The Space Coast launch is one of two launches in the U.S. on Friday. College students hope to launch their experiments on a suborbital flight from a NASA facility in Virginia. That four-hour launch window opens at 6 a.m.
