Jack the Clown, a HHN legend, steps aside this year. His sidekick, Chance, is stepping into the spotlight and will preside over the event.

The annual and insanely popular event includes themed scare zones with mutants, zombies and monsters filling the streets of Universal Studios Florida.

There are a total of nine haunted mazes at this year's event. Six are based on the previously mentioned TV shows and movies, including Krampus and Halloween.

Universal's creative team designed three original houses (mazes) this year: Lunatic Playground 3-D — You Won't Stand A Chance, Ghost Town: The Curse of Lightning Gulch and Tomb of the Ancients. Five scare zones were also announced in August.

News 13's Allison Walker Torres ventured into the scary mazes Friday morning. Follow News 13 on Twitter (@MyNews13) for more pictures.

Halloween Horror Nights takes place select nights between Sept. 16 and Oct. 31 (Halloween).
