Halloween Horror Nights is back at Universal Orlando. Prepare yourself, you’re in for a fright.

Yes, it’s terrifying. But it’s also so much fun.

If you’ve ever been to the annual event at Universal Orlando, you know it’s a lot to take in.

Nine haunted houses. Five scare zones. Two lives shows. Whew!

That’s why we’ve compiled a top five list of the things you should definitely see at this year’s event.

The Exorcist

The Exorcist is easily the most unique haunted maze at this year’s event. Based on what many consider to be the scariest movie of all time, the maze features several horrifying scenes with Regan (the possessed 12-year-old), Father Damien Madras and Father Lankester Merton (the priest who performs the exorcism).

Each takes place in, you guessed it, a bedroom.  As you travel from scene to scene, the fear factor increases.  As Regan becomes more and more possessed, the maze becomes more intense. One major highlight of The Exorcist maze is the projectile vomit. Yes, Regan spews green pea soup. Visitors will even encounter Pazuzu, the demon and main antagonist.

The technical aspects of the maze won’t be mentioned here; don’t want to ruin the fun.

However, visitors will be treated to plenty of blacked-out hallways, “scareactors” and other creepy effects. Chairs move, windows slam and set pieces shake!

So much detail has been put into this maze and other mazes and scare zones throughout Halloween Horror Nights.

American Horror Story

Fan of the FX show? Then you’re in for a terrifying treat with this maze.

You get to step into three seasons: Murder House, Freak Show and Hotel.

It's a massive ode to the show, and according to Universal's creative team, the maze is one of the most elaborate.

In Murder House, Visitors will encounter Rubber Man in his red room. Art from that season was also recreated which only showcases the amount of detail that went into the maze.

As you travel along, you enter Freak Show and meet Twisty the clown.

The Countess from Hotel is a prominent fixture in this part of the maze. You’ll even meet a ghost or two. A really cool (read: frightening) effect is one of the scares involving a bed.

Many of the scares in American Horror Story are accompanied by special sound effects taken from the show's theme song.

A Chance in Hell

For some, the scare zones are not as intense as the mazes. But now that Jack's sidekick Chance is running the show, things get very interesting.

Visitors are in for pure mayhem as Chance recruits cellmates.

The Stage Shows

The two stage shows for this year are Bill &Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure and Academy of Villains House of Fear. The former has been around before, so if you’re looking for a truly new experience, see Academy of Villains.

Basically the plot is this: some asylum inmates break free and put on a show. The result is stage show full of music and dancing.

The Rides

While the focus is on the haunted mazes and scare zones, never overlook the attractions.

Several thrill rides like Revenge of the Mummy will be open during Halloween Horror Nights. What better way to break away from the chaos than to hop aboard a coaster or two?

Based on this year's offerings, Universal seems intent on keeping the momentum going from the great Halloween Horror Nights 25.

Halloween Horror Nights takes place select nights at Universal Studios Florida now through Oct. 31.
