Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings testified in Washington on Wednesday during a hearing on terror attacks in the U.S., speaking on the Pulse nightclub response.

The Homeland Security Committee hearing was focused on how to prevent, prepare and respond to attacks in local communities.

Demings addressed funding concerns and asked for an information sharing system to help identify high-profile suspects.

"In order for American law enforcement to prevent, respond to and mitigate domestic terror attacks, analystics and training will be integral to stopping the attacks from proliferating," Demings said.

Demings also testified that 29 high-risk areas around the country were given certain funding — but Orlando was not one of them.

Demings said he was asked to speak at the hearing.

On June 12, 49 people were killed and more than 50 were injured at the gay nightclub. Gunman Omar Mateen was shot dead by law enforcement officers.
