POW! BAM! KAPOW! Time to break out the comic books because today is National Comic Book Day.

Every year collectors, readers and fans celebrate on September 25.

Comic books have been around since the end of the 19th century, but they didn’t really start to become popular until the 1930s.

According to NationalDayCalendar.com, the earliest known comic book is called “The Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck.” It was published in 1842 in the United States.

So what’s the best way to observe the day? Read a comic book, of course.

And if you don’t have any comic books, stop by a local comic book shop.
