Changes are on the way for two resorts at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will be part of a new expansion project over the next two years, the company announced Thursday.

  • Expansions at Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach resorts
  • 15-story tower to be added to Coronado Springs
  • Caribbean Beach will get new retail shopping areas and waterfront dining

The expansion will include a 15-story tower that will overlook Lago Dorado, the resort’s lake.  The tower will add 500 rooms featuring suites and concierge level services to Coronado Springs and give guests panoramic views of nighttime fireworks from nearby parks.

Disney also plans to refurbish existing rooms at the resort.

An island oasis connecting the resort through a series of bridges will also be added to the changing landscape.

While Coronado Springs is expanded, Disney’s Caribbean Beach will undergo its own remodeling.

Retail shopping areas and waterfront dining will be added to Centertown, the marketplace at the resort.

Disney says the changes will give guests more convenient access to resort services and amenities.
