When it comes to the campaign trail, many promises are made, but in some cases, when candidates become office-holders, those promises fade into the background.

With the 2016 presidential election now behind us, our partners at PolitiFact Florida have assembled a list of promises made by President Donald Trump while he was a candidate.  During the next four years, PolitiFact will break out the Trump-O-Meter to periodically update the status of a promise to see if it's being fulfilled or if it's been forgotten about.

One such promise is this one:

"Suspend immigration from terror-prone places."

PolitiFact reporter Allison Graves says that this promise rates IN THE WORKS on the Trump-O-Meter.  Graves says that President Trump put this into motion after he was sworn into office.

"On January 27th, President Trump signed an Executive Order that temporarily stopped immigration from seven countries that are affected by terrorism," Graves said.  "This order also stopped any refugees from any of those countries from coming into the United States for a period of 120 days.  It also indefinitely suspended Syrian refugees from entering the United States."

Graves says that, although the order was signed, there have been bumps in the road when it comes to implementation.  "Several states actually sued the Trump administration," said Graves.  "On February 3rd, a federal district court in Seattle ruled against the executive order, which led to the filing of an appeal by the Trump administration.  Now, that appeal was taken under consideration by the Ninth Circuit Court, and they ruled unanimously in favor of the Seattle court decision, effectively stopping the forward motion of President Trump's executive order."

Graves notes that, while the president did issue the order to fulfill the campaign promise, the on-again, off-again nature of the litigation keeps implementation in limbo, which leads to a rating of IN THE WORKS on PolitiFact's Trump-O-Meter.
