Meet TapuTapu.

Universal has talked for months about giving guests a way to hold a place in line on the water rides for the upcoming Volcano Bay water park.

But now the park is taking us step by step through that "virtual line" process.

Universal resort updated its website with details on the TapuTapu, using drawings to show how the devices work.

The TapuTapu wristband appears similar to Disney's Magic Band, except guests get one when they arrive and return it when they leave.

To enter a Virtual Line, look for a diamond symbol at totems located throughout the park. Tap the device to enter the Virtual Line. The device lets you know when it's time to ride.

That's a departure from the Magic Band. Disney has guests reserve rides online at the Disney World website. With the TapuTapu guests reserve their spot at the park.

Universal says TapuTapu also unlocks interactive activities throughout the park, including water jets.

Last month Universal filed a request to trademark the term "Virtual Line" for the virtual line technology.

The Virtual Line will also be used for the new Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon ride coming to Universal Studios April 6.

Volcano Bay is set to open May 25.
