Universal Orlando is giving a closer look at its new wearable device TapuTapu, which will work with virtual lines at Volcano Bay.

  • TapuTapu device to be used at Volcano Bay
  • Device holds place in line, activates special effects in the park
  • Volcano Bay set to open May 25

Universal posted a new video on its official blog Thursday showing the device in action.

TapuTapu is available in four colors and included with admission. The screen shows the name of the attraction along with the words, “ride now.”

Visitors to Volcano Bay will be given a TapuTapu wristband to use while at the park.

The device has a number of features, including the ability to “virtually” hold someone’s place in line at attractions. The wristband would alert visitors when it’s time to return to the attraction.

TapuTapu also allows visitors to activate special effects throughout the park, such as illuminate images in the volcano’s caves and shoot water cannons.

Universal previously updated its website to explain how virtual lines and the device would work.

So far Universal has not announced ticket prices for the water park.

Volcano Bay will have its grand opening on May 25.
