A horse had to be dug out of a sinkhole Friday in Clermont.

The sinkhole opened up off Downway Road as the horse was walking around a Clermont farm.

After spending a few minutes trying to come up with a plan, the owners decided to go with their gut and dig the horse out. After an hour, family members were able to build a ramp and the horse walked out.

“A horse is part of your family," said Mark Henis. "I didn't know, they respond to you like dogs. So yes, it's like a family member in that hole, who can't help itself so you want to do whatever you can to help them out."

The 20-year-old horse named “Sir” was checked out by a veternarian. “Sir” will be just fine.
