Deputies say a registered sex offender used a popular blog and photo sharing site to upload images of child pornography.
According to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Paul Parmer, 47, was charged Thursday with possession of child pornography, promoting sexual performance of a child and not reporting an email address he was using.
The sheriff’s office said they began investigating Parmer after getting a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning a Tumblr account with child pornography on it.
NCMEC also provided an IP address, email account and username for the account, investigators said.
Detectives were able to connect the email address to Parmer and visited him on Monday to verify his information as a sexual offender.
Deputies said they asked Parmer for his email address, but the one he provided wasn’t the same as the one they already had.
Investigators later got a search warrant for Parmer’s home and interviewed him again, during which they say he admitted to having the Tumblr account and email address.
“The defendant stated that he has had the Tumblr account for approximately 5 weeks and that his account was recently disabled,” the arrest report said.
Detectives said Parmer admitted to uploading about 200 pictures of child pornography.
Parmer is being held at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $520,000.
